The City of Vincent Environmental Grant recipients for 2018 are Kyilla Primary School, Mount Hawthorn Primary School, Repair Cafe Perth and Perth Bike Hub.

“There are a number of passionate groups in our community who do great work to make our City greener and more sustainable. Along with our Greening Plan and other environmental projects, our Environmental Grants program assists schools and community groups to do some great work for the environment in Vincent,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“This year we received four grant submissions and I’m pleased to announce that all four were successful in funding for their grants initiatives,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

Kyilla Primary School and Mount Hawthorn Primary School obtained funding to participate in the ClimateClever Schools Program: a student-led program designed to help students measure, manage and reduce their school’s carbon footprint.

Repair Cafe Perth's submission was to deliver their really popular repair sessions over the coming year. These sessions are held on the third Saturday of each month at Academy Café in the Mezz Shopping Centre. It is run by volunteers and encourages people to bring their broken items for repair rather than throwing them away.

Perth Bike Hub obtained funding to screen the highly anticipated Dutch documentary Why We Cycle at North Perth Town Hall on 2 November at 6.30pm. The free screening will be proceeded by a series of talks based around sustainable transport themes.

“Congratulations to all of our applicants for receiving an Environmental Grant. We look forward to seeing how these programs roll out. If you have a great environmental project of your own, please apply for next year’s funding round in early 2019,” said Mayor Cole.
