SullivAN LOGISTICS sTADIUM: Leederville Oval Redevelopment

Project

Since 1915 Sullivan Logistics Stadium (formally Leederville Oval) has been a Perth based AFL ground for WA top tier football competition. In 2024 the Western Australian stadia includes one tier 1 stadium (Optus Stadium) and a number of smaller venues (potential tier 2 sites) to host smaller crowds.

WA lacks a genuine tier 2 AFL venue to accommodate night football and support the growth of AFLW and Women's WAFL. Sullivan Logistics Stadium has potential to fill this gap. It’s inner-City location, town centre proximity and transport connectivity offer the most complete spectator experience.

This potential was demonstrated by Leederville Oval hosting the 2022 WAFL grand final with a record crowd of over 16,000 people. The West Coast Eagles have also played at Leederville several times including in the pre-season AFL JLT Series.

The project would see priority works of televised lighting, a complete turf renovation plus grandstand and ancillary building works to immediately bring the venue to a tier 2 playing standard.

Further works in the long term would be guided by master planning and include broader precinct upgrades and connectivity improvements to the Leederville town centre and Oxford Street.

Why we need help

We are seeking funding to carry out priority works to bring Sullivan Logistics Stadium up to tier 2 standard. The game day benefits and ancillary economic benefits to the local economy will be appreciated by the broader metropolitan community.
