On Demand Waste Collections

Need a mattress or white goods collected?

Mattress collection

For a cost of $37.40 per mattress, we will collect and recycle your mattress. The average mattress consumes 0.75m³ of space in landfill and contains approximately 12.5kg of steel, 2kg of wood and 1.5 kg of foam. Call our Waste and Recycling Team on 9273 6000 to arrange collection.

Please remove castors/legs from mattress base ensembles, this helps to make the stacking of the bases much easier!

Cancellation or rescheduling of mattress collection shall be received no less than 2 working days prior to the scheduled collection date or the service may be forfeited and no refund can be provided.

White goods collection

White goods are large domestic appliances used for routine chores. Generally speaking they aren’t easily transportable, which separates them from appliances like toasters and mixers. Examples of a common white good include a fridge, freezer, oven, stove, dishwasher, washing machine, clothes dryer and air conditioner.

White goods are disposed of through collection in metal recycling programs, where they are shredded and their metal is recovered.  Fridges and air conditioning units are also professionally degassed in accordance with the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse GasManagement Act 1989.

What do we collect?

(Price per item):

  • $27.50/white good (Ovens, Stoves/Cookers, Washing Machines, Dishwashers, Dryers)
  • $31.90/fridge and freezer (includes degassing)

Service can only be booked once payment has been received. Payment can be made via the phone (9273 6000) or in cash at the City's Customer Service Centre, located within the Library at 244-246 Loftus Street, Leederville.

Items need to be on the verge by 6 am on collection day, but no earlier than 24 hours prior to the scheduled collection day, otherwise this is classified as illegal dumping and fines might be incurred.

Call our Customer Service Team on 9273 6000 to arrange a collection.

Cancellation Policy:  Items may be rescheduled or cancelled (with full refund) up to 2 working days before the scheduled collection (For example: for a Friday scheduled collection, the City would need to be advised during business hours the previous Wednesday). No refunds can be provided for cancellations received after this time.
