Our InnoVINtive Team represented the City and the State in the Australasian Management Challenge final in Canberra. The annual challenge is a development program designed to deliver personal, team and organisational professional development for current and emerging local government leaders. It's a simulation-based team building, learning and networking program.

Throughout the challenge teams assumed the role of the executive management team and worked on contemporary issues that impact local government. The tasks were fast paced and varied from written responses, role plays, debates, videos and presentations.

Teams were observed and assessed on energy, synergy, effectiveness, creative thinking and written responses.

Challenges included topics relating to customer service processes, delivering leadership messages, investment presentations, workplace hazards, dog park planning, artificial intelligence, procurement, business cases for co-working hubs and preparing a commercial.

There were more than 100 teams that competed from across Australia and New Zealand, and eight teams in the final were:

  1. City of Vincent
  2. Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
  3. Port Stephens Council, NSW
  4. Glen Eira Council, Victoria
  5. Rural City of Murray Bridge, SA
  6. Sunshine Coast Council, QLD
  7. City of Darwin, NT
  8. Northern Tasmania Composite Team, TAS

We’re extremely proud to announce that our InnoVINtive Team came third in the final round of the challenge!

Mayor Emma Cole said “We were delighted that our InnoVINtive Team won the state rounds of the Management Challenge and represented WA so well at a national level. We are all very proud of the team for this fantastic achievement”.
