Residents recycle tonnes of unused electronics

Around 550 Vincent residents saved a massive 7.85 tonnes of electronic waste from landfill at our E-waste Drop-Off Day on Saturday 3 February.

The City partnered with Good Sammy and Total Green Recycling to recycle and reuse electronic waste (e-waste) items, in a bid to keep harmful chemicals out of landfill.

We recycled:

  • 654 small appliances
  • 219 TVs
  • 140 computers
  • 255 printers and computer accessories
  • 17m3 polystyrene and cardboard

Of this, 332 items with life still left in them were set aside by Good Sammy to be sold in their stores.

E-waste can't go in kerbside bins and need to be recycled through a specialist service to prevent harm to the environment.

As a new addition this year, residents could also bring along polystyrene and cardboard packaging to be recycled.

If you missed out on last month's collection, e-waste can still be recycled for free year-round through our Verge Valet service or at the Recycling Centre in Balcatta or West Metro Recycling Centre in Shenton Park. Or keep an eye out for our next E-Waste Drop-Off Day.
