Our lively urban villages and proximity to the Perth means that the pressure on kerbside parking in recent years has grown. It has prompted us to look at how we manage parking permits and make some improvements.

At its 20 September 2016 meeting, Council revised the City's Parking Permits Policy 3.9.3 and streamlined the permits process. Those permits are now ready and available for residents.

Here are some of the highlights of the new permit system:

• you can apply online for new permits,
• permits are easily transferrable between cars,
• a permit can be used for both residents and visitors,
• residential permits will be valid for three years, and new permits will be automatically sent out to you – you don’t have to reapply,
• the permits ‘run with the property’ and can be transferred between owner or tenant.
