City of Vincent achieves Gold Waterwise status

We are proud to have been recognised as a Gold Waterwise Council again in 2018. We achieved gold status for leadership in sustainable water management and for demonstrating our commitment to building water sensitive communities.

Local Governments, like ours are considered to be substantial water users and therefore we believe in promoting efficient and effective water management.

Since 2013 we have conducted water usage audits, compiled a Water Efficiency Action Plan and implemented water saving actions across a number of locations to save water and reduce the demand on our valuable water sources.

Some of our waterwise projects for residents include:

  • Waterwise Irrigation Workshops – our next one is Saturday 10 March at the Library and Local History Centre on ‘how to make your home waterwise’.
  • Native Plant Sale and Pop up Sustainability Hub – Saturday 7 April you can buy native plants cheaply and learn more about sustainability.
  • Adopt a Verge program – to encourage planting native plants on verges
  • DIY Water Audit Kits available from for loan the Library and Local Studies Centre

The Waterwise Council program is a joint initiative of the Water Corporation and the Department of Water.
