2024 National Road Safety Week Seminar

Thursday 9th May 2024

WestCycle and WALGA present a 2024 National Road Safety Week Seminar - How the City of Vincent made their local streets safer.

Join us for a National Road Safety Week seminar to hear from City of Vincent CEO David MacLennan about why Vincent reduced the speed limit on its local streets, how they did it and what the feedback has been.

In response to community requests for safer streets, Vincent recently succeeded in permanently reducing the speed limit on their local access roads to 40km/h. Work is now underway to implement the change, which won’t affect distributor roads or main corridors.

The new speed limit is expected to reduce rat running and make residential neighbourhoods safer and more welcoming. Slower speeds also encourage more walking and cycling for short trips and will enable kids to walk or ride to school or the local park more safely.

Location: Online or in person at the City of Vincent Function Room, 244 Vincent Street, Leederville
