Revocation of Local Planning Policy 7.4.2 Aged or Dependent Persons' Dwellings

The City of Vincent is proposing to revoke Local Planning Policy 7.4.2 Aged or Dependent Persons' Dwellings and is seeking community feedback.

At its 19 September Meeting, Council endorsed consultation to remove Local Planning Policy 7.4.2 Aged or Dependent Persons’ Dwellings.

Since the adoption of this policy, the State Planning Framework has evolved, updating the provisions for aged or dependent persons’ dwellings.

These changes encourage the development of small-scale specialised housing, and they also provide adequate controls, which makes the purpose of our Policy redundant.

Vincent recognises the increased need for specialised housing in our communities and seeks to remove any barriers relating to the development of aged or dependent persons' dwellings.

As our policy could be perceived as a barrier, it is recommended that it be revoked.

The consultation period will close at 4pm on Monday 23 October 2023.
