A better Birdwood Square

Published on Wednesday, 28 February 2024 at 9:20:00 AM

Upgrades are coming to Birdwood Square this year. A modern toilet and changeroom facility and new playground are set to revitalise the area, with improved footpaths, lighting and greenery to complete the space.

Centrally located on Beaufort Street, the park has long been a popular spot for families, community sport and the nearby Highgate Primary School.

The upgrade is partially funded by the State Government, through an election commitment from the Hon. John Carey MLA, Department of Education WA and Vincent.

Have your say

The playground at Birdwood Square has been well-loved and is ready for an upgrade.

We are asking the community to let us know the types of equipment they would like considered for the new playground.

Visit Imagine Vincent to have your say. Survey closes 22 March.

Project stages

Stage 1: Toilet and changeroom facility

April-June 2024

A modern toilet and changeroom facility will be built to provide convenience and allow more people to enjoy the park for longer. It will include an accessible toilet, along with two unisex toilet and shower cubicles.

The current playground will be removed and the toilet and changeroom facility built in its place. The parkour equipment will remain open.

While waiting for the new playground to be built, we encourage people to visit nearby playgrounds at Hyde Park, Robertson Park, Stuart Street Reserve and Brigatti Gardens.

Stage 2: New playground

October-November 2024

After receiving community feedback, we will design a new playground to be installed in October. We’re working to have the new playground ready for the community to enjoy by the end of 2024.
