Accessible Beatty Park
The City of Vincent recognises the importance of creating a community where there is equal access for all members to participate in activities and access to facilities. Beatty Park Leisure Centre (Beatty Park) has been designed with universal access in mind to cater for the elderly, parents with prams and for people with disability.
Accessibility for all
The main entry is easily accessible from the car park, and from this point, patrons can access all areas of the Centre via ramps, with the exception of the upper grandstand. Four accessible and family change rooms are located adjacent to the main change rooms, adjoining the indoor and outdoor pools.
The indoor pools can be easily accessed via the beach entry. The outdoor pools can be accessed via stairs, ramp and with handrails, or patrons may prefer or require assistance into the water with the hydraulic hoist, or the water wheel chair.
Carers
Beatty Park supports the use of facilities and allows carers to attend with free admission to the Centre when they are providing care to people with disability.
Staff Assistance
All sections of the Centre have staff qualified with senior first aid skills and staff can provide guidance to Carers on the use of accessible equipment within the facility. If support or information is required, one of our friendly staff will be happy to assist.
Facilities and Access
Pools
- We have 3 outdoor pools all heated to 26°.
- The indoor pool is heated to 32°
- The 25m pool is 0.95m deep to 1.35m deep.
- The leisure pool has a 0 depth entry for accessibility using the water wheelchair.
Pool ramp
The refurbished 50m pool includes ramp access and stairs to allow for easy access.
Water wheelchair
The centre has two submersible wheelchairs that allow our users to be wheeled directly into the water. The chairs can also be used in the change rooms and for movement around the facility.
Pool hoist
An additional water wheelchair was purchased in 2016, which was funded by the Disability Services Commission and administered by WALGA.
The pool hoist recently supplied through a grant from Variety WA is able to be used to provide access to the 50m, 30m and 25m pools. A maximum safe load limit of 145kg is required.
Change facilities and bathrooms
1 Adult Accessible Change Room with a roof mounted hoist and adult change table and automatic door (also funded by the Disability Services Commission and administered by WALGA).

Hearing loop
A portable hearing loop is located at the front counter of Beatty Park. The hearing loop empowers people with hearing impairments to clearly hear what’s happening around them. The hearing loop transmits verbal communication directly to hearing aids. It captures sounds via its integrated microphone and automatically transformed into induction signals. Hearing aids equipped with the T-Coil setting are able to pick up these induction signals.

5 ACROD parking bay as well as a set down area.
Access
A standard wheelchair is also available to move patrons from their vehicles into and around the Centre.
Health and Fitness Centre
Wheelchair accessible equipment including Synergy 360 multi station, Upper Body Egometer, Cable Crossover, Smith machine, Tricep Pulldown and free weights.
Creche
Staffed by qualified, experienced professional staff, the crèche provides a variety of activities for children. These activities are flexible to suit all age levels and are designed to meet the development needs of the children. Creche facilities are available weekdays as follows:
Monday - Friday 8:45am - 2:30pm
Saturday 7:45am - 12:30pm
Sunday 8:00am - 12:00pm
Inclusive Programs
Angelfish Classes
Beatty Park has developed an award winning inclusive and integrated swimming program for people with disability. These classes are provided at the same rate as our mainstream classes. The Angelfish program provides individuals with a lifelong skill which will enable them to participate in a wide range of aquatic activities. Initial tuition is provided on a 1:1 ratio where the instructor assesses readiness for integration into a mainstream class. This is achieved gradually and the instructor remains with the student throughout this process. Once integration has been achieved the instructor continues to work as an aide in the mainstream class. We have a large range of specialised equipment and communication resources, as well as appropriately trained instructors.
Energywise
Energywise is a exercise programme choice for energetic mature adults that utilises 'cross training' techniques in water and on land. It incorporates the latest fitness trends in a safe, supervised and social environment.
