Shortcut Lane: Secondhand Market and EMRC Clothes Swap 👗👖👜

Refresh your wardrobe sustainably! Join us on Sunday 26 May and explore a unique selection of vintage markets offering second-hand clothing and accessories.

We’re also taking sustainable style a step further with a EMRC clothes swap event where you can bring along used wardrobe items and exchange them for new-to-you treasures. It's a great way to refresh the wardrobe, reduce waste and connect with fellow fashion enthusiasts in the community.

Here's how:

  1. Gather up any quality clothes, shoes, and accessories that are just taking up space in your closet. Make sure they're clean and in good condition – no stains, holes, or broken zips allowed.
  2. Bring them along to our exchange event and swap them for new-to-you items that catch your eye. You can bring as many items as you like, and the best part? It won't cost you a thing.
  3. What's up for grabs? Clothing, shoes, bags, hats, and accessories that are still in great shape and ready to be loved by someone new.
  4. EMRC staff will sort through the items to make sure everything is fair and of good quality.

Before you head out, here's a quick checklist:

  • Are your items clean and free from stains, holes, tears, or anything that would make them unsuitable for someone else?
  • Please leave out underwear, sleepwear, swimwear, and worn-out gym clothes.

In addition to browsing and swapping, there will be live music, face painting, bubbles and circus workshops for kids!

  • Date: Sunday 26 May
  • Time: 9am - 11am

FAQS

Why are we running this activation?

The City of Vincent is temporarily transforming the informal pedestrian desire line through the View Street and Rosemount Hotel car parks into an activated pedestrian-friendly shared space.

This project is supported by a RAC's Reconnect WA initiative.

The two car parks offer good connectivity and a convenient shortcut through North Perth between the busy café and retail strip of Angove Street to the north and North Perth Common and North Perth Plaza on View Street.

Vincent recognises the potential of this unique pathway and is seizing the opportunity to bring creativity, fun, and much-needed activation to the space.

The project, Shortcut Lane: Pop-Up Event Series will provide a great opportunity for Vincent to showcase and engage with the community about the future of the two car park sites and the longer-term transformation of the North Perth Town Centre from an environment dominated by cars to a place for people.

How long will the event run for?

Shortcut Lane: Pop-Up Event Series will run from Friday 3 May to Sunday 26 May.

Will there be road closures?

There will be a series of road closures and detours in place, with two (2) different road closure models. Road closures are:

  • View Street – North Perth Common after Glebe Street
  • Corner of Fitzgerald and View Street
  • Entry only on Angove Street in the Rosemount Hotel Car Park
  • Exit only onto View Street from the Rosemount Hotel Car Pak
