The City of Vincent is hosting a series of free events for young people these October school holidays to help people connect, meet friends and learn some lifelong skills.
The Vincent Youth Series events include sports days, a mental health seminar, cooking class, photography workshop, yoga classes and an amazing race around North Perth called the Vincent Gold Rush.
“We’ve got some great, free events for youth in Vincent to try this October, from sports through to photography and cooking. So grab a friend or, even better, make a new one at a Vincent event over the school holidays. It’s easy, just visit our website and register to take part,” said Mayor Emma Cole.
“We want Vincent young people to be actively involved in running their own events and telling us what is important to them in the City of Vincent. Over the past year the Vincent Youth Network, a group of local youth, has come together and part of their work with the City of Vincent has been developing events that young people would love to go to. The Vincent Gold Rush is one of their biggest events to date,” said Mayor Cole.
The events start with ‘Come n Try’ sports featuring netball and wheelchair basketball on 1 October. The series ends with the Vincent Gold Rush, an amazing race around North Perth for teams of two to four to solve puzzle and complete challenges for the chance to win some great prizes. The Vincent Gold Rush is open for anyone aged 10 – 25 and finishes at 2pm with a free sausage sizzle and post race entertainment.
After the school holidays finish the City will be hosting a Youth Forum on Monday 21 October from 9am - 2.30pm for local young people to talk about the matters that matter to them. The events and the forum are engagements to help the City of Vincent build its upcoming Youth Action Plan and Youth Facilities Plan.
All the events are free, though bookings are essential. For details and to register click on the links below:
