The Poppy Project

The story

The response to our Poppy Project has been overwhelmingly positive. Community groups, clubs, schools, childcare centres and locals have come together to make poppies for our display.

Poppies have been created from a range of materials. A craft group made hundreds of crochet flowers during sessions at Vincent Library, while Vincent Community Shed contributed 300 wooden poppies that were hand painted by children at local childcare centres and kindergartens.

Thank you to everyone who contributed last year, including:

  • Tall Tree Early Learning Leederville
  • Mulberry Tree Mt Hawthorn Childcare Centre
  • Vietnamese Buddhist Youth Group
  • Indigo Montessori Mt Hawthorn
  • Di's Poppies
  • Aranmore Catholic College

Be part of the Poppy Project

Help us fill our community with poppies this Remembrance Day.

We are inviting residents, schools, community groups and clubs to get involved by creating their own poppy displays. Whether it is a front yard, fence, gate or shared neighbourhood space, every poppy helps tell the story.

Sign up to receive a poppy‑making kit and get creative your way. You can also choose to donate your handmade poppies to be included in the City of Vincent display at Keith Frame Reserve from Friday 6 November to Sunday 15 November 2026.

A few things to know:

  • Poppy‑making kits will be available to collect from the City’s Administration Building. Collection details will be provided once your registration is confirmed.
  • Kits are limited and will be available until stocks run out, so get in early.
  • If you would like your poppies included in the City display, please drop them off to the administration building by Friday 23 October 2026.

If you have any questions, please contact Community Development team at [email protected].

Registrations close Friday 11 September 2026 or earlier if kits are fully allocated.

"It was good to be involved in a project that had contributions from many in the community.

Our members come from diverse backgrounds and countries. It would be fairly certain that most members of the Shed would have relatives or friends who have died or suffered in conflicts, past or more recent, in places all over the world. Remembrance Day is an opportunity for us to pause together and remember them."
