Brisbane Street road safety improvements

The City of Vincent is working with Main Roads WA to deliver a series of road safety improvements along Brisbane Street through the Low-Cost Urban Road Safety Program.

The project is part of ongoing efforts to improve safety on Brisbane Street and has been informed by traffic and crash data, technical investigations and community feedback, including a petition presented to Council in March 2024.

The works will be delivered in stages during 2025 and 2026 across Brisbane Street and nearby local streets.

Funding

The project is fully funded by Main Roads WA through its Low-Cost Urban Road Safety Program, which helps local governments deliver practical road safety improvements in areas with a higher history of crashes.

Safety upgrades

Improvements include raised safety platforms, safer pedestrian crossings and other traffic-calming measures designed to slow vehicle speeds, improve safety and create a more comfortable street environment.

The locations and designs have been informed by traffic and crash data, how people use the street, future growth planning and feedback from residents and key stakeholders, including Main Roads WA and the Department of Transport.

A wombat crossing is a raised pedestrian crossing which includes raised humps and 'zebra' stripe line marking.
