Code of Conduct and CEO Standards
In February 2021, the Local Government (Administration) Amendment Regulations 2021, Local Government (Model Code of Conduct) Regulations 2021 (Model Code Regulations) and Local Government Regulations Amendment (Employee Code of Conduct) Regulations 2021 came into operation.
The effect of these Regulations is to prescribe:
- model standards for the recruitment, selection, performance and termination of local government CEOs;
- a model code of conduct for Council Members, committee members and candidates that sets the overarching principles to guide behaviour, specifies the standards of behaviour which reflect the principles and provides the rules of conduct that relate to the principles and behaviours; and
- requirements that the CEO must include in a code of conduct for employees.
Following the enacting of the Regulations, Council adopted a:
A Code of Conduct has also been developed for Employees, Contractors and Volunteers which provides clear guidelines for the standards of professional conduct expected to carry out their functions and responsibilities.
Together, these documents provide Council Members, committee members, candidates (together Nominated Members), the CEO and Employees in the City of Vincent with guidelines for an acceptable minimum standard of professional conduct and behaviour in carrying out their functions and responsibility.
