Reuse

We are keen to support our community in the shift towards a circular economy. Providing more options to reuse rather than throw away resources is one of the ways we are doing this.

The circular economy is about keeping resources in use for as long as possible by reusing, repairing, sharing, and recycling. For households, it means making choices like buying less, choosing durable products, refilling containers, and reducing waste instead of throwing things away.

Zero waste refill station

A zero waste refill station is available at Beatty Park Leisure Centre. Bring your own reusable plastic containers and top up on essentials like shampoo, dish soap, laundry liquid, and cleaning products next time you visit.

The machine is the first of its kind north of the river and we are proud to be one of the first local governments to offer it.

Skipping Stones Refillery is a WA business offering a practical alternative to single-use packaging. With high quality locally made products, its a great way to support both the planet and small business.

Reusing containers again and again reduces the need for new packaging, cuts down on waste, and saves energy and materials.

Buy nothing groups

Did you know there are eight local Buy Nothing Groups in the City of Vincent?

A Buy Nothing Group is a Facebook group hyper-localized to your suburb. Locals can post items they want to give away or are in need of — for free.

Each local group is an independent Facebook group, managed by local volunteers.

The Buy Nothing motto is ‘give where you live’ and is intended to reduce waste at a local level and build resilient community connections. The group lets you:

  • Offer any goods or services you’d like to share, loan, or give away.

  • Request any goods or services you’d like to share, borrow, or keep.

To find your local Buy Nothing Group, simply search “Buy Nothing” and the name of your suburb on Facebook.
