Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations
Find out where to charge your electric vehicle in the City of Vincent, including the City's current position on private EV charging on verges and what we are exploring for the future.
Public EV charging stations
The City of Vincent currently has three public electric vehicle charging stations available for use. Each station is a plug-in bollard that electric vehicles can connect to for recharging.

Private EV charging on verges
We know that some residents, particularly those in older homes without a driveway, garage or off-road parking, face challenges when it comes to charging an electric vehicle at home.
The City is investigating opportunities to expand public EV charging and to explore options for private chargers on verges. However, the City does not currently permit private electrical infrastructure to be installed within or across the public verge, including footpaths, for the purpose of charging electric vehicles. This includes running cables under the pavement or installing power outlets on the verge.
This approach is based on four key considerations:
- Public safety: keeping the verge and footpath safe and accessible for all users
- Infrastructure protection: avoiding conflicts with existing underground services such as drainage, utilities and street trees
- Regulatory compliance: ensuring all works within public land meet relevant standards and legislative requirements
- Equitable use of public space: maintaining fair and consistent access to the verge for the whole community.
In the meantime, residents can:
- Use one of the City's public EV charging stations listed above
- Explore off-site or shared charging arrangements where available.
Our aim is to provide more reliable and fast charging options for EV owners and make it easier for residents to make the switch.
Our advocacy on electric vehicles
The City is actively seeking State Government funding for fast EV chargers across Vincent, and advocating for changes that would allow residents to install their own charging infrastructure on verges. We are also exploring future charging options as part of the Leederville Car Park Redevelopment and the underground power program.
