Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Group

The City of Vincent is inviting nominations from community members with lived experience to join its Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Group (DAIAG).

We are seeking up to eight (8) people with lived experience of disability, carers, family members and those working in disability support and advocacy.

The DAIAG provides community insight to support the development of the City’s next Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP). It brings people together with lived experience and expertise across physical, sensory, cognitive and psychosocial disability, those who support people with disability and people working in disability advocacy and service provision.

The DAIAG will play an important role in helping the City identify issues, highlight opportunities and strengthen inclusive practices across services, programs, events, information and facilities. Members contribute practical perspectives to ensure the DAIP reflects community needs and supports equitable access for everyone who lives, works, studies or visits Vincent.

While the DAIAG is not a decision-making body, it provides valuable advice that informs the City’s planning and approach to disability access and inclusion, helping to guide meaningful and achievable actions.

Objectives of the DAIAG include:

  • ensure the lived experiences of residents, workers, students and visitors inform the development and priorities of the DAIP.
  • review and develop workshop and survey material to enhance relevance, clarity and accessibility and ensure alignment with the perspectives and lived experiences of people with disability
  • strengthen consultation and engagement approaches to ensure they are inclusive and accessible
  • provide insights on engagement activities ensuring they appropriately reflect access and inclusion considerations
  • identify barriers and opportunities to improve equitable access to the City’s infrastructure, facilities, programs, events, information and services,
