Public Notice - Special Council Meeting

Published on Thursday, 26 March 2020 at 5:32:50 PM

Notice is hereby given that a Special Council Meeting of the City of Vincent will be held on Monday, 30 March 2020 at 6.00pm.

Amendments to the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996 were passed by Parliament on 25 March 2020 and came into force on 26 March 2020.

The amendments mean local governments can hold electronic Council and Committee meetings during a public health emergency.

Public question time will still occur during these electronic meetings, however, it is modified so that the public can be requested to submit the questions prior to the meeting.

The City’s Special Council Meeting will be held via video-conference (Zoom.us) and will commence with public question time.

Questions must be provided to Administration (governance@vincent.wa.gov.au) by 3pm on Monday 30 March 2020, so they can be raised and responded to during public question time.

The purpose of the meeting is to consider:

  • Establishment of a COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Committee;
  • The City’s COVID-19 Response and Recovery Strategy, including immediate relief measures to respond to the impact of COVID-19 on the community and local businesses;
  • Potential impact of COVID-19 on the delivery of waste services including the timing of the FOGO third bin project;
  • Expression of interest process for the use of Leederville Gardens Trust Funds to provide relief to vulnerable residents; and
  • Establishment of an Arts Working Group to provide advice on support for City of Vincent artists during COVID-19 from the developer contributions made to the Percent for Art Trust.

An Agenda for the Special Council Meeting will be published by close of business Friday 27 March 2020, along with a link to access the meeting electronically.

Details of the public question time protocol is available here.
