Over the past 12 months, the City has undertaken detailed analysis of traffic movement, crash data, speeds, traffic volumes and projected growth to identify opportunities to improve safety and movement across Highgate, Mt Lawley and North Perth.

Proposed improvements include safer crossings, intersection upgrades, traffic calming and changes to traffic movements.

Community consultation took place during July and August to gather local knowledge on how proposed improvements would work for people who use the roads every day. 

We received a strong response through the online survey, interactive map, community drop-in sessions and written submissions.

Some clear themes emerged through the consultation including safer pedestrian crossings, reducing speeding and rat-running, improving cycling connections and maintaining reasonable access to local streets. We also received detailed feedback about individual streets and proposed treatments, which has provided valuable local insight.

We are looking at how the existing proposals can be further developed to respond to what we’ve heard from the community, while continuing to address the safety and transport issues identified through our Precinct Transport and Road Safety Studies. Future projects will be subject to design, funding and further consultation.
