Eton and Haynes Street Upgrades

Road safety upgrades along Eton and Haynes Streets in North Perth are now complete.

The improvements will help slow traffic, make intersections safer and make it easier for people walking and riding bikes to move through the area.

Safety upgrades

Eton and Haynes streets

At the intersection of Eton and Haynes streets, raised road sections have been installed on all four approaches to slow vehicles. New pedestrian islands on Haynes Street also make crossing the road safer.

At the Eton Street and Scarborough Beach Road intersection, a raised platform has been added to help slow vehicles as they turn onto Eton Street. Dedicated left and right turn lanes will also improve traffic flow and make turning safer.

Funding

The project was funded through the State Government's Black Spot Program, which funds road safety improvements at high-risk locations.

Sydney and Haynes streets

While carrying out the Eton and Haynes Black Spot Project, we also upgraded the Haynes and Sydney Street intersection. The upgrade has made it it safer and easier to access Haynes Street Reserve.

The additional work included pedestrian islands to make crossing the road safer and traffic calming measures to slow cars around the intersection. It also makes it easier for people living nearby to walk to the reserve and playground.

By combining the work, we could make these safety improvements more efficiently.

Happening next

Further improvements may follow as Haynes Street Reserve develops. The future of Eton Street as a key cycling route will also be considered as part of the Mt Hawthorn Precinct Transport Study.
