Precinct transport and road safety studies take a network-wide approach to understanding traffic movement and road safety. Rather than looking at issues street by street, our studies consider how the road network operates as a whole, using crash data, traffic information and modelling to build a clearer picture of what is happening across each precinct.
This approach recognises that changes in one street can affect surrounding streets. Looking at the bigger picture helps identify solutions that improve road safety, better manage traffic and support more coordinated planning, without simply shifting problems from one location to another.
The findings are used to develop a prioritised road safety implementation plan for the precinct, identifying practical and cost-effective improvements for the short, medium and long term.
Precinct transport studies are one of the programs that support our Road Safety Management Plan. To find out how these studies fit into the City's broader approach to road safety, view Road Safety Planning.
Studies for the Leederville and West Perth precincts are being planned and will be added to this page when they are available.
