Public holidays

All bins are collected on public holidays except for Good Friday (Easter), Christmas Day (25 December) and New Year's Day (1 January). On these days, bins will be collected on the following day.

How to place your bins

Please place your bins so that they can be collected safely and efficiently.

  • Put bins out by 6am on your collection day.
  • Leave at least one metre between bins and obstacles such as cars, poles and street signs.
  • Keep at least 50cm between each bin.
  • Face the front of the bin towards the road.
  • Keep bins clear of trees and low branches.
  • Make sure no vehicles are parked in front of bins.
  • Keep the weight of each bin under 70kg.
  • Ensure the contents are loose enough for the bin to empty properly.

Bin upgrade

If your bin is often full or you’re finding it hard to sort your waste, look at the How to Sort Your Waste page for some quick tips.

If you still need a larger bin, please contact us. We can talk you through your options and, if needed, arrange a visit from a Waste Educator to see what will work best. If an upgrade is approved, we will confirm any costs, arrange payment and swap the bins once payment is made.

Bin upgrades may also be available on compassionate grounds for residents with medical conditions.

    Storing your bins

Bins must be stored on your property between collections, not on the footpath or street. Bins left out can create safety hazards, lead to litter if they are knocked over and are more likely to be damaged, stolen or lost.

If your premises is vacant or untenanted, please keep your bins inside the property to reduce contamination, loss and damage.

If you cannot securely store your bins during demolition or construction, please contact us to have them removed. A fee may apply when the bins are returned at the end of this period.
