Have your say on the future of the Windan-Guildford stretch of the Derbal Yirragan (Swan River)
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), in collaboration with the Cities of Bayswater, Belmont, Swan and Vincent, and the Town of Bassendean, has launched community consultation for the Windan-Guildford Locality Plan – an important opportunity for residents to help shape the future of this iconic Perth waterway.
The plan will create a long-term vision for the section of Derbal Yirragan (Swan River) between Windan Bridge and Guildford, covering foreshores in the City of Bayswater, City of Belmont, City of Swan, City of Vincent, and Town of Bassendean.
The Locality Plan will guide decision-making about environmental protection, recreation opportunities, culture, heritage and climate adaptation across this significant stretch of the Derbal Yirragan (Swan River).
Community members are encouraged to share their ideas about:
- How they currently use and enjoy the river
- What they value most about the area
- Opportunities for improvement
- Vision for the future
Online feedback can be shared until 28 November 2025.
Drop-in sessions will be held at:
- Warndoolier, Mt Lawley – 4 - 8pm, 31 October
- Maylands Waterland – 9am - 12pm, 8 November
- Garvey Park (Kidz Fest) – 11am - 4pm, 15 November
Focus group sessions will be held for community groups and organisations.
Visit the Windan-Guildford Locality Plan website.
