Western Power has made changes to the delivery of underground power projects..
The underground power program is still planned to move forward in the City of Vincent, but some projects will start later than expected.
Western Power advised that it is prioritising critical electricity network upgrades and work needed to meet the growing demand for power across WA.
Construction in the North Perth/Mt Hawthorn project area is well underway and is still planned to be complete in late 2026.
The City understands that changes to project timing may be disappointing. We’ll continue to share information as Western Power provides further updates.
North Perth / Mt Hawthorn (Project 343)
Currently under construction and planned for completion during 2026.
Perth / Highgate (Project 348)
In detailed design with construction expected to start in the 2028 financial year.
North Perth / Mt Lawley (Project 347)
In detailed design, with construction now expected to start in the 2030 financial year.
Vincent / Leederville (Project 406)
Remains in Western Power’s delivery pipeline. Detailed design is currently on hold and construction is now expected to start in the 2032 financial year.
Vincent / North Perth (Project 35)
Vincent / Mt Hawthorn (Project 34A)
Vincent / West Perth (Project 1190)
Vincent / Mt Hawthorn (Project 340)
Remain in Western Power’s longer-term plan. Not planned to move into construction during Western Power’s current investment period, which runs to the 2032 financial year.
