Weld Square irrigation upgrades

The City will begin irrigation upgrade works at Weld Square as part of the 2025/26 Capital Works Program.

The project will improve water efficiency and reduce reliance on groundwater.

What’s happening

Works will involve:

  • Excavation and removal of existing irrigation pipework

  • Installation of new in-ground irrigation infrastructure

The upgraded system will support more sustainable watering of the reserve.

Timing

  • Start date: Monday 30 March 2026

  • Duration: Approximately three – four weeks

Access and safety

To ensure community and contractor safety:

  • Weld Square and adjacent verge areas will be temporarily closed and fenced

  • The public toilet and external footpath will remain open

The City acknowledges the temporary disruption and appreciates the community’s patience.

The City is also working with relevant outreach and support services to ensure people are informed of the closure and connected with appropriate assistance where needed.
