Vincent and Perth will be the setting for the second series of ABC’s critically acclaimed series The Heights, with locations in Northbridge, Perth, Mount Lawley and Leederville featuring prominently in the series.

Filming now, to be screened in 2020, season two of The Heights will include 30 episodes with a new additional studio space in Vincent, to cater for The Heights growing story world. The groundbreaking series fosters homegrown local talent including a number of first time actors, production crew and screenwriters.

Ton Sian Grocery on Palmerston Street is the setting for Iris' shop in the show, a character played by Carina Hoang.

“It has been exciting for Ton Sian Grocery to be involved with the filming of The Heights,” said Le Tran, the owner of Ton Sian Grocery on Palmerston Street.

“The store was established 37 years ago by my parents Tan Tran and Thi Gioi Khuu, so my whole family are proud to see Ton Sian on television.  We like to watch the show and are pleased that our store is a reflection of Vietnamese culture in Australia,” she said.

Mayor Emma Cole was delighted to welcome the cast and crew to Vincent.

“We are thrilled to welcome The Heights crew to Vincent and look forward to seeing some well loved locations including Hyde Park, Northbridge, the North Metropolitan TAFE in Mount Lawley and Beaufort Street on the small screen next year,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“The Heights follows the stories of six families from diverse backgrounds in a changing inner-City community. The production promotes diverse, equal representation in the television industry both on screen and off, which makes it a great match for Vincent.”

Commissioner Len Kosova said the City of Perth is proud to support a home-grown project like The Heights.

“The Heights is the first long form television production produced in Perth for 20 years, and supporting the arts is important to the City,” Commissioner Kosova said.

“To be involved since inception and see the production blossom into a second series is no surprise and a credit to the show’s producers, cast and crew.”

The Heights is produced by Matchbox Pictures in association with For Pete’s Sake Productions for ABC, with support from Screenwest and Screen Australia.
