Local creatives are invited to apply to display artworks in Vincent’s rejuvenated Lightbox Laneway Gallery in Highgate.

The gallery, located in Kaadadjiny Lane across from the Queens Tavern, provides an opportunity for up-and-coming artists to exhibit their talent in framed light boxes that are spread along a mural.

It’s an accessible public space for artists to showcase their illustrations, paintings, photography or graphic designs.

The aim of this project is to bring art and culture outside of the traditional gallery setting and offer great exposure for emerging artists.

Applications will be open from Tuesday, 3 March to Wednesday, 1 April 2026. There are four exhibition slots available between June 2026 and August 2027.

Successful applicants will receive $2,500 to use for the development of the work, artist fees, printing materials, marketing, production costs or a launch event.

The lightboxes were refreshed and relaunched in November 2024 as part of the improvements to the laneway over the past year.

The current exhibition is by Iwan Isnin. Isnin's series 'Talking Moon' explores what it means to sit with absence, memory and change. The series is a visual meditation on reflection, healing and the courage it takes to move on.

The relaunch of the gallery comes after Vincent commissioned a new wall and floor mural in the laneway called A Whadjuk Tale. This was a collaboration between artists Jarni Creative, Jack Bromell, Kambarni, J.D. Penangke, Honey Mural Co and Christian Lovelady.

The laneway’s name Kaadadjiny, which is the Noongar word for thinking, learning and understanding, was the theme for the artwork.

This project is an action from the Arts Plan 2023-2028.
