A sea of green will be hitting Leederville this weekend as St Patrick’s Day Festival makes a comeback after a three-year pause due to COVID-19.

The City of Vincent is the major sponsor of St Patrick's Day WA Inc’s free festival and parade, which will be held in the Leederville town centre and Leederville Oval on 18 March, 10am – 6pm.

Kicking off at 10am, the St Patrick’s parade will fill the streets of Leederville with floats, walking groups, marching bands and everything green.

The parade will start on Newcastle Street and continue along Oxford Street before heading up Vincent Street to finish at Leederville Oval for the festival.

The festival will feature live entertainment, kid’s activities and food stalls for an unforgettable day of family fun.

“We are very excited to welcome our community back to Leederville for this vibrant festival after a three year pause due to COVID-19,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

“For many of us who have missed a return to the Emerald Isle to reconnect with family and friends, this day is very special and a chance to connect with the Irish community.

“It is an opportunity to embrace Irish traditions and culture and to enjoy time with family and friends.”

Ms Cole thanked the festival’s committee for bringing back the event.

“Olan and the Committee have stepped up with resilience and passion and have been tireless in their efforts to bring back this well-loved celebration after challenging COVID times,” she said.

“We look forward to the community having a grand day out in the City of Vincent.”

There will also be a City of Vincent stall where attendees can complete a survey about the event and go in the draw to win one of 10 local restaurant vouchers worth $100.

The winners will be drawn on 20 March.
