Underground power works are underway on Oxford Street between Salisbury Street and Scarborough Beach Road in Mt Hawthorn.
Businesses are open
Oxford Street businesses remain open throughout the works. You can still walk along the footpaths to access shops, cafés, restaurants and services, and the Oxford Street car park will remain open.
Crossing Oxford Street may take a little longer due to the temporary lane closures, so please take extra care and allow a little more time when visiting.

Oxford Street between Scarborough Beach Road and Anzac Road
Western Power's contractor MME is undergrounding power along Oxford Street between Scarborough Beach Road and Anzac Road.
Works will take place in stages, with one lane of Oxford Street remaining open at all times.
Southbound lane closed: Tuesday 21 July to Tuesday 28 July
During this stage of the works, the southbound lane of Oxford Street between Scarborough Beach Road and Anzac Road will be closed. If you're driving north, you can still travel along Oxford Street as usual, and parking on the western side of the street will remain available.
On-street parking on the eastern side of Oxford Street will be temporarily unavailable while works are underway.
If you're travelling south, please follow the signed detours. Vehicles travelling west along Scarborough Beach Road will be directed via Fairfield Street and Anzac Road to reconnect with Oxford Street. Vehicles travelling east along Scarborough Beach Road will be directed via Harrow Street and Anzac Road.
Bus services will also be diverted during this stage, and the bus stop within the work area will be temporarily closed.
Northbound lane closed: Date TBC
During this stage of the works, the northbound lane of Oxford Street between Anzac Road and Scarborough Beach Road will be closed. If you're travelling south, you can still use Oxford Street as usual, and parking on the eastern side of the street will remain available. On-street parking on the western side of Oxford Street will be temporarily unavailable while works are underway.
If you're travelling north, please follow the signed detours to reconnect with Oxford Street. Bus services will also be diverted during this stage, and the bus stop within the work area will be temporarily closed.

Aafter completion of works on the eastern side of Oxford St, the northbound lane of Oxford Street between Salisbury Street and Anzac Road will be closed. If you're travelling south, you can still use Oxford Street as usual, and parking on the eastern side of the street will remain available. On-street parking on the western side of Oxford Street will be temporarily unavailable while works are underway.
If you're travelling north, please follow the signed detours to reconnect with Oxford Street. Bus services will also be diverted during this stage, and the bus stop within the work area will be temporarily closed.
About underground power
Western Power, the State Government and Vincent have committed to converting distribution powerlines to underground power, delivering a more reliable and safer power supply while improving the look of our streets and allowing the tree canopy to flourish.
The North Perth/Mt Hawthorn area is the first in Vincent to be converted to underground power. The project is now more than halfway complete, with many streets already enjoying the benefits of having overhead powerlines removed.

- improved street appeal through the removal of overhead powerlines
