The City of Vincent is inviting the community to help choose a name for the laneway between Stanley and Ebsworth streets in Mt Lawley.
Earlier this year, we asked for feedback on naming the laneway Fenian Crossing Lane. The proposal was not supported.
Mulberry Lane was a popular alternative suggested by the community, but similar road names already exist nearby.
We’ve now shortlisted three new options with connections to the local area.
- Silk Lane - the area where the laneway is situated was previously used for silk farming and had a mulberry grove.
- Bombyx Lane - Bombyx is the Latin name for the mulberry feeding silkworm likely farmed at the site and therefore also speaks to the silk farming history there.
- Turbine Lane – references the area’s most prominent historic landmark, the nearby East Perth power station.
All three options meet Landgate’s road-naming requirements.
We’d like to know which of the three names the community prefers.
Following consultation, we’ll consider the feedback before submitting a proposed name to Landgate for approval.
Visit Imagine Vincent to find out more and have your say.
Consultation closes 4pm Wednesday, 18 November 2026.
