New Anzac memorial plaque honours 39 previously unrecorded servicemen

The City of Vincent has installed a new commemorative plaque at Axford Park recognising 39 servicemen whose names were recently uncovered through community research.

In 2025, Perth historian Mr David Murray contacted the City with detailed findings showing that a number of men from the area had not been included on the original memorial plaque.

“Mr Murray’s research has played an important role in ensuring these soldiers are recognised in our local story. Our City’s history is richer because of community members like Mr Murray,” said Mayor Alison Xamon.

Rather than adding a secondary plaque, the City chose to replace the existing one so the newly identified servicemen could be acknowledged with the same prominence and dignity as those originally listed.

Mayor Xamon will acknowledge the new plaque and the addition of the 39 new names at the City’s Anzac Day March and Service on Saturday 25 April 2026.
