Lived experience to shape Vincent’s new Disability Access and Inclusion

The City of Vincent is developing its next Disability Access and Inclusion Plan, with lived experience shaping the process from the outset as part of its commitment to a more accessible and inclusive community.

The City has established its first Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Group (DAIAG) comprising eight community members with lived experience of disability and three Council members.

The group will help guide the development of the new Plan by sharing priorities and identifying ways to improve access and participation across the City.

“A community can only call itself inclusive when every person can move, participate and belong without barriers.”  said Mayor Alison Xamon.

“People with disability are experts in their own experiences and their insights will help ensure the Plan responds to the needs of our community and delivers practical improvements to services, facilities and public spaces.”

The DAIAG will provide advice throughout the development of the Plan and play an important role in shaping actions across the City’s programs, services and policies.

There will also be opportunities for community members to take part in discussions and provide their feedback during the development of the Plan.
