Litis Stadium shines on the international sporting stage

A major lighting upgrade at Litis Stadium means the venue can now host international level training, while enabling local sports clubs to safely play matches at night.

The City of Vincent completed the upgrades ahead of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, allowing the stadium to be used as an official training venue.

The upgrade was made possible thanks to an $800,000 investment from the WA Government as part of the PlayOn WA initiative, which aims to deliver 2,030 community infrastructure projects across WA by 2030.

City of Vincent Mayor Alison Xamon said the completion of the lighting upgrade at Litis Stadium was an important milestone for the local sporting community.

“We want to make sure there are enough opportunities available for people to get active in Vincent so everyone who wants to be involved in sport, can be.”

With the new lights Floreat Athena can hold more junior’s and women’s training sessions and matches, and the Vincent City Ducks Gridiron Club will be able to play and train at night.

“If the City’s sporting spaces remain accessible, safe and capable of supporting continued participation growth, we will strengthen the pathways for women and girls in sport,” said Mayor Xamon.

The City of Vincent has delivered $4.3 million of upgrades at Litis Stadum with support from the Federal and State Governments. Alongside the 500-lux floodlighting system, the venue has brand new changerooms and renovated clubrooms.
