Charles Veryard Reserve will soon be home to new LED sports floodlights.

The City of Vincent received a grant from the State Government to upgrade the existing lights at the reserve, thanks to a commitment from Perth MLA John Carey.

The existing lights will be replaced with high-tech, energy efficient LED lights on the eastern half of the reserve.

The new lights are dimmable and remote controlled to provide between 100 lux and 50 lux on the sports field.

Installation work is scheduled to start on 19 September and is expected to be completed by 21 September.

Elevated work platforms will be in use during this time to change the light fittings with final aiming and lux testing to be conducted after sunset on 21 September.

Both the Mount Hawthorn Cardinals Junior Football Club and Modernians Hockey Club will benefit from improved lighting conditions for their winter training sessions.

The Cardinals will also be able to offer more opportunities for their girls’ teams to play fixtured games at night.
