Planning is underway to improve safety and traffic flow at North Perth Primary School, with a dedicated kiss and drive facility proposed for Olive Street.
The City has been working closely with the school since August 2025, meeting every two months to explore options and refine the approach. The most recent meeting was held on 16 March, with further discussions scheduled as planning continues.
A concept design for the kiss and drive facility is expected to be completed in May 2026. Following this, residents on Olive Street will be invited to provide feedback on the proposed design in June 2026.
Construction is proposed to align with scheduled road resurfacing works in the 2026/27 financial year. Timing is being considered for either the September or January school holidays to reduce disruption for students, families and the school community.
The project responds to a request from North Perth Primary School to improve safety during busy drop-off and pick-up times. Similar upgrades delivered at Kyilla Primary School have shown how structured kiss and drive zones can help reduce congestion and create a safer environment for children.
The City will continue to work with the school and local residents as the project moves through design and delivery stages.
