Vincent’s annual verge planting season is underway, with around 500 trees set to be planted across streetscapes and verges between late May and October.
Backed by a WA Tree Recovery Grant from the State Government, this year’s program will see even more trees planted to help grow a greener, cooler and healthier community.
A mix of suitable WA native, Australian native and selected exotic species will be planted, with tree types and locations carefully chosen based on site suitability and to best support a diverse streetscape.
Ranging from eucalyptus to melaleuca, the plant selection prioritises climate‑resilient species well suited to our City.
The Street Tree Planting program plays an important role in increasing canopy cover across Vincent, helping create shaded streets, support biodiversity and improve the local environment.
It also contributes to the City’s Strategic Community Plan by protecting and enhancing the natural environment.
To help young trees thrive, the City will water each one during its first two summers. Residents can also lend a hand by giving new trees extra water during hot, dry periods and continuing to care for them in future summers.
Residents can request a new or additional verge tree for next year’s planting season by Monday 28 September 2026.
