Families across Vincent can look forward to exciting new play spaces as three popular local parks receive major upgrades.
Construction is already underway at Edinboro Street Reserve and Beatty Park Reserve, with work at Hyde Park East set to begin on Monday 23 June.
These revitalised playgrounds have been shaped by community input and are designed to offer more inclusive, imaginative and active play opportunities for children of all ages.
Edinboro Street Reserve – nature-inspired play

Located in Mt Hawthorn, the new playground at Edinboro Street Reserve has been designed to complement its leafy surroundings.
Key features include:
- A 6m seated skyrail
- Multiplay unit with climbing frames, slides, and bridges
- Bush story panel for imaginative play
- Kookaburra rocker
- Double swing and inclusive saucer
- Softfall surfaces of rubber and mulch
- Trees planted for natural shade
Beatty Park Reserve – coastal bush theme

In North Perth, The Beatty Park Reserve playground, is being reimagined with a coastal bush theme, blending nature with dynamic play elements. The design incorporates sand softfall with rubber pads that connect pathways and key play areas.
Key features include:
- A thrilling 25m ‘Sky Rider’ flying fox, popular with older children
- Multiplay unit with tunnel, turbo slide, spider web, and more
- Triple swing
- Lorikeet rocker
- Softfall mulch and rubber finishes
A new toilet block will be installed as part of this upgrade. Construction is planned for later in the year.
Hyde Park – Ninja-style climbing adventure

The eastern playground at Hyde Park (corner of Glendower and William Streets) is being transformed into a ninja-style rope course, a design overwhelmingly supported by the community.
Focused on climbing, balance, and inclusive activity, the playground features include:
- Web tunnel
- Rock wall
- Web wall
- Hoops
- Gym station
This compact and active ropes course includes 10 elements, designed to challenge and entertain a range of age groups.
Construction at Edinboro Street Reserve and Beatty Park Reserve is expected to be completed by the end of June 2025. Works at Hyde Park East start Monday, 23 June, with completion anticipated by mid-July (weather permitting).
Work will take place on weekdays from 7am to 5pm, with minimal disruption to nearby residents.
