Funding boost to grow Vincent’s urban forest

.The City of Vincent has received $82,229 from the State Government’s WA Tree Recovery Local Government Grant Program to plant over 300 new trees throughout the City.

The funding will support proactive tree planting across parks and verges to help replace the tree canopy lost to polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB) and to strengthen Vincent’s urban forest for the future.

Planting will take place during the 2027 planting season with the new trees be predominantly native species and will further increase Vincent’s urban forest which already includes more than 23,000 trees across our parks and verges, comprised of 268 different species.

This diverse mix of species plays an important role in making Vincent’s urban forest more resilient, while increasing canopy cover, helping create cooler and more shaded streets, supporting biodiversity and improving the local environment.
