Trees are a big part of what makes Vincent WA's most liveable City.
We've improved the way we care for our 23,000 trees by tracking them more closely using a tool called TreePlotter.
TreePlotter is a mapping system used by our Parks team to keep track of what we know about each tree and the work we've done to look after it.
The system maps every tree and stores information such as its species, condition and location. It also helps us keep track of maintenance, treatments and other work, including trials to manage polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB).
Having all this data in one place helps us understand how our trees are doing, plan the care they need and make better decisions about protecting and growing our urban forest.
We will also be using the system to track over 300 new trees that we will be planting in 2027, thanks to the State Government's WA Tree Recovery Local Government Grant.
Part of the new trees will be replacements for those lost from PSHB.
These initiatives are aligned with the Enhanced Environment Strategy, which focuses on enhancing and protecting tree canopy, biodiversity and green spaces.
