Celebrating WA Seniors Week

To celebrate 2019 Seniors Week next week, the City of Vincent is participating in some wonderful events for seniors, including two bus tours and a performance at the Library and Local History Centre.

There will be a free Detective for a Day puzzle walk and lunch on Tuesday 12 November from 9.30am – 2pm, travelling to Kings Park and working through clues to solve a puzzle. After the puzzle walk the bus will return to the City of Vincent for a light lunch.

Barry Strickland will be performing Bush Boy takes on the Big Smoke on Wednesday 13 November from 10am – 11.30am at the Library and Local History Centre. Tickets are free and available online via the Library website.

On Thursday 14 November enjoy wine, chocolates, nougat, nuts and macaroons at Houghton’s Winery and the Vines Resort with a bus tour that includes morning tea, wine tasting and a two course lunch for only $34 per person.

“Thank you to everyone who is taking part in a Seniors Week event. We offer these events for free or at a subsidised price to celebrate Seniors Week, it’s an opportunity to connect with other older adults in our community and enjoy getting out and about. You can also check out our ‘Well & Wise’ calendar for lots more events, activities and workshops throughout the year,” said Mayor Emma Cole.

There are still spots available on both bus outings. You can book your ticket in advance by calling the Community Partnerships team on 9273 6000 or emailing community.partnerships@vincent.wa.gov.au.

Beatty Park is offering a five day free trial to anyone with a Seniors Card with full access to facilities including gym, pools, sauna and steamroom. Simply sign up for the trial at Beatty Park reception anytime between 11-17 November.

Loftus Community Centre is also running workshops on 13 November in partnership with Asthma WA to keep lungs healthy including a therapeutic yoga class and a workshop to get healthy lungs. More information is available from Loftus Community Centre.
