Beatty Park indoor pool reopens sporting a fresh new look

Our much-loved indoor pool at Beatty Park reopens this weekend, following a significant makeover.

The $3.1M project, which includes a $200,000 Federal Government Grant, has given our indoor pool a new lease of life and ensures it can be enjoyed by the community for years to come.

Upgrades include fresh new pool tiling, Aboriginal tile artwork, spruced up garden beds and an impressive kids’ water playground complete with new water features, giant tipping bucket and netball hoops.

Everyone’s favourite green frog was also shown some love with a fresh new coat of paint.

Works also include the installation of new change cubicles and heated showers on the pool deck level, updated pipework and a new water treatment system.

Mayor Emma Cole said the Open Day on Sunday August 22, would be a fun celebration and an opportunity for the community to see all the fantastic work which has been going on behind the scenes over the past 7-months.

“This has been an exciting project for Vincent and we can’t wait to welcome the public back in to the indoor pool to take advantage of these wonderful facilities,’’ she said.

“While most upgrades are ready to be enjoyed right now, we are still waiting for two new water slides to arrive from overseas.

“Unfortunately slides are not manufactured in Australia and Covid has understandably carried delays.

“We are also in the process of installing new universal change rooms on the deck level, which will improve accessibility for everyone using the pool.”

Mayor Cole said the upgrades had given the indoor pool a much needed facelift and would make it more fun and accessible for the community.

“It’s been almost 10 years since the indoor pool at Beatty Park was given a makeover and almost 26 years since we upgraded the filtration system,” she said.

“We want to thank the community for their patience during the renovations and look forward to welcoming everyone back, including our swim school members from Monday.

The Open Day will start with a Welcome to Country at 9.45, and a brief opening by Mayor Cole at 10am.

The fun-filled event will run until 2pm and feature mermaid and pirate entertainment, a slip n slide, live DJ and water polo and synchronised swimming demonstrations.

Entry is free and don't forget to leave your contact details at the door for your chance to win a free 1 month membership.
