Ready, set, grow for the Greening Vincent Gardening Competition.
Celebrate the City of Vincent's gardeners with our annual Greening Vincent Gardening Competition.
Entries open 9am Monday 3 August and there’s just over a month for residents, schools and businesses to show off the best flowerbed blooms, veggie patches or creative garden designs to compete for prizes in five award categories:
- Best Front or Back Garden
- Best Wildlife Friendly Garden
Those green-fingered and keen-eyed will notice an additional category this year: Best Tree Tale, where you can share the story behind a tree that holds meaning to you in your garden.
Planted to mark a milestone, passed down through generations, a home to wildlife or just the right branch to trunk ratio that sparks joy no matter the season… tell us what makes your tree special.
Not only does the competition contribute to making Vincent green, sustainable and waterwise - there are great prizes to be won:
- 1st - $500 worth of vouchers
- 2nd - $200 worth of vouchers
Entries close 5pm, Friday 4 September, with judging taking place later in September for the all-important awards night on Wednesday 28 October.
Mayor Alison Xamon said the competition celebrates the people who make Vincent greener, more vibrant and more connected.
"One of the things that makes Vincent WA’s most liveable City is the pride our community takes in creating and caring for green spaces. Whether it’s a productive veggie patch, a wildlife-friendly garden or a much-loved tree, these spaces make our neighbourhoods greener, cooler and more welcoming.
"The Greening Vincent Competition is a chance to recognise those efforts and celebrate the people helping to make a positive difference in our streets and local environment whilst also playing a small part in addressing the challenges of climate change.
"I'm especially looking forward to seeing the stories behind the Best Tree Tale entries and learning why these trees hold such a special place in our community."
