Bins & collection days

The City provides each rateable residential property with kerbside bin services. All single unit dwellings and apartment complexes have now transitioned to the Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) three-bin system.

FOGO three-bin system service:

  • One lime green lid 240 litre FOGO bin, collected weekly.
  • One yellow lid 240 litre Recycling bin, collected fortnightly.
  • One red lid 140 litre General Waste bin, collected fortnightly.

Rateable properties requiring additional bins or services above their entitlement will incur a fee, as per the current fees and charges. All non-rateable properties requiring waste and recycling service through Vincent will also incur a fee as per the current fees and charges. Please contact our Waste and Recycling team to arrange this.

Larger apartment complexes have now also transitioned to the FOGO system, with bin allocations tailored for each building.

Frequently Asked Questions

My bin has not been collected, what should I do?

  • Is it your bin day? Use our bin day search function above to check.
  • We collect bins between 6am and 6pm, so if it is your bin day, we might not have been in your area yet (truck rounds might vary due to operational requirements).
  • If your bin was out on time (by 6am) and it has been missed, please phone our Customer Relations team on 9273 6000. Please note any missed services need to be reported within 48 hours of your missed collection, otherwise you might have to arrange for a paid return collection or wait until your next bin day.
  • If it is your bin day and you forgot to place your bin out, or you have not reported your missed collection within 48 hours of your bin bin day, you can arrange for a paid return collection. Please contact our Customer Relations team on 9273 6000 to arrange.

How should bins be stored?

  • All your bins must be stored on your property between collections, not on the footpath or street. Bins left out on the street or footpath can create safety hazards and cause littering problems if they get knocked over. They are also more likely to be damaged, stolen or lost.
  • If your premises is vacant/untenanted please store your bins inside the premises to reduce chances of contamination, loss and damage.
  • If you are unable to securely store your bins during demolition and construction please contact our Waste and Recycling team to have them removed. Please note a fee may occur for the bins to be returned at the end of this period.

My bin is damaged, what should I do?

If your bin is damaged our Operations team can attend to repair or replace your bin. Please ensure you advise us which of your bins has the damage, what the damage is (e.g. cracked body, broken lid, or wheels missing or broken).

Please contact the City's Waste and Recycling team on 9273 6000 or email mail@vincent.wa.gov.au
