Kyilla Primary Road Safety Project
The City of Vincent is working with Kyilla Primary School to make Bedford Street safer and easier to use for students, families and the community.
Works include a designated kiss and drive zone with clearly marked bays to improve traffic flow during busy drop-off and pick-up times. The area currently being used as a kiss and drive zone is insufficient and in need of an upgrade.
A clearer road layout will create better access and help to reduce congestion and unsafe or illegal parking.
The footpath along Bedford Street will be upgraded to run continuously between Lawler and Doris Streets and allow students to walk safely around the whole perimeter of the school.
Native trees will be planted near the footpath to provide shade for students walking to school.
The project is part of Kyilla Primary School’s 2024–2029 Masterplan and supports the City’s Accessible City Strategy.
Happening now
Works are underway to upgrade the kiss and drive zone, starting with the footpath. In total we will install 52m of new kerb, 32m2 of landscaping, 136m2 of new footpath, 192m2 of new asphalt and a soakwell.
Traffic management will be in place on Bedford Street. Please follow signage and directions. Access to properties will be mostly unaffected.
Depending on weather, we are aiming to have works complete by the end of June.
