The City of Vincent’s e-scooter trial has been suspended as of 6 June 2025, to allow for a review of the service.
This decision comes after its neighbours, the City of Perth decided to halt its e-scooter scheme on 5 June, following a tragic accident last weekend.
As part of the trial, anyone who hired an e-scooter from Vincent’s boundaries could ride into Perth, and vice-versa, as part of a shared arrangement.
Neuron Mobility and Beam e-scooters will no longer be available for hire in Vincent until further notice.
All hireable e-scooters will be removed from Vincent’s streets within the next 48 hours and are unable to be hired effective from today (6 June).
“We were very saddened to hear about the tragic accident in the City of Perth,” said Mayor Alison Xamon.
“Our condolences are with the family.
“Like our neighbours at Perth, we have decided to temporarily suspend our trial so we can review the safety of the hireable e-scooters and consider ways to improve this service or if it even needs to continue.
“We will continue to work closely with our service providers on potential changes to their operations here in Vincent.”
Ms Xamon said public safety was a top priority.
“Our roads and footpaths are shared spaces where people use different modes of transport,” she said.
“Whether you are walking, cycling, driving or riding an e-rideable, we want to ensure that you feel safe while travelling through our neighbourhoods and town centres.”
During the suspension period, a review of the trial’s operations will be undertaken along with consideration of safety-related measures such as time-of-day restrictions.
