Mt Hawthorn Youth Skate Space

Construction of a new youth skate space is underway at Britannia Reserve.

The 350-square metre small-scale facility will cater for young skaters and be built on the northwest corner of the reserve, just north of the basketball ring and adjacent to the new multi-sports changeroom facility currently under construction.

Designed in consultation with local families and members of the skating community, Mt Hawthorn Youth Skate Space will be perfect for kids, young people and inexperienced skaters.

Features

Mt Hawthorn Youth Skate Space is designed for entry level skaters to develop and hone their skills. Its range of street and transition elements will include:

  • quarter pipes
  • banks
  • rails
  • ledges
  • tabletop and a mini ramp

Construction

Construction is planned to be complete in June 2024.

Before the works commence, a temporary fence will be installed around the site.

The community mulch pile will be moved to the eastern side of Litis Stadium, next to the Tools n Things Library. Entry is from the Britannia Road car park.

There will be some noise during the works, which will happen on weekdays from 7am – 5pm. Some car bays will be closed during construction.

Funding

More than half of the funding for this facility will be provided by the Department of Communities as part of an election commitment from Hon. John Carey MLA, State Member for Perth.
