How do I use them?

The units house a foot operated bike pump and a series of bike tools - these are free to use. Instructions are available through this link.

How did it come about?

As part of the research for the 2013 Vincent Bike Network Plan, the community called for bike repair stations. The City made an application to the Department of Transport's PBN Grants and were successful in obtaining funding for 50% of the initiative. We then located a number of spots where people might be riding either on their way to work or recreational rides - so we looked at busy routes as well as local bike routes.

Many people don't have the special tools or space to do simple maintenance on their bikes, so the idea was that people would be able to pop down - even on the weekend - and do some quick repairs or tune-ups to their bike.

Of course, if you are interested in learning a bit more about bike maintenance, check out our Bike Maintenance courses held within the City of Vincent in Spring and Summer of each year.
