Perth Precinct Transport Study

The City of Vincent is undertaking the Perth Precinct Transport Study to address ongoing safety concerns and redirect regional traffic. Many drivers are currently using neighbourhood roads instead of nearby distributor roads, which impacts safety and the liveability of the area where people live, work and spend time.

The study will develop a longer-term traffic management plan for the precinct, with a focus on Brisbane Street between Lake Street and Palmerston Street.

It will identify practical improvements to make streets safer, prioritise local access and better manage how traffic moves through the area.

Background

The study follows a community petition submitted to Council in March 2024, raising concerns about traffic volumes, speeding, driver behaviour and parking on Brisbane Street between Lake Street and Palmerston Street.

In response, Council endorsed a series of actions in April 2024, including the design and consultation of low-cost safety improvements, changes to parking and the development of a longer-term plan to address cut-through traffic and improve conditions for residents.
